Samode Palace

1

Samode is the beginning of many journeys. Historical, reflective, luxurious, rejuvenating, artistic, romantic – journeys that are unexpectedly much more than what you set out to discover.

Samode Hotels – Samode Palace, Samode Bagh, Samode Haveli and Samode Safari Lodge – welcome you into a legacy of quiet magnificence, an elegant and regal way of life, into the warmth of a family and people renowned for their refined hospitality.

As history weaves itself around you, a community comes alive, a vivid natural and aesthetic beauty silently greets you at every turn, while you continue to be pampered in a delightful mix of old-world courtesies, sophisticated style and international facilities. We believe that you are naturally born to this and we believe you are at home.

Unexpected and charming, Samode Haveli is a self-contained, intimate, heritage hotel, hidden deep in the folds of the busy streets of old jaipur.

A nobleman’s urban abode restored to perfection, the Haveli emerges, as if from nowhere at the end of a narrow lane – an oasis of serenity in the depths of the lively city. Whenever you come to visit the treasures of Jaipur, this is the hotel you will want to make your home.

A quintessential Indo-Saracenic regal residence, Samode Haveli is seeped in history and tradition, and yet offers its guests contemporary luxuries and the impeccable hospitality and courtesy that are the signature style of the Samode group of hotels.

The regal ceremonial ramp welcomes you like it did the royal bridegrooms who came on elephants. The romance of this 175-year-old Haveli continues through a passage decorated with traditional memorabilia and leads you to a delightful central courtyard, overlooked by balconies from where women would watch the wedding procession and shower rose petals.

Guests are ushered straight to this hub, lavishly decorated with traditional patterns hand-painted on the walls and ceilings and is the perfect spot to savour a cuppa, catch up on the news or simply sit back and let the wonder of Samode take over. A far cry from the hum of the city just beyond the gates!

History

Facing North, away from the scorching Rajasthan sun, Samode Haveli was built over 175 years ago within the city of Jaipur by Rawal Sheo Singhji as the manor house for the royal family. It reflected the style and elegance of the family and the art and architecture of the times and culture, all of which have been impressively restored today. A special feature of the Haveli, the elephant ramp at the entrance, was constructed in the 1940’s for the marriage ceremony of the late Rawal Sahib’s aunt.
